Pomona has a history to be proud of. It is 100% New Zealand-owned and is the largest tapes converter and slitter in Australasia. Pomona had its beginnings in a small rural office on the outskirts of Kumeu in 2004 and is still owned today by Charles Kilvington who started the business. Today, Pomona is the most trusted and respected name in adhesive tapes and offers the widest range of tapes in New Zealand.
Pomona production staff have a wealth of expertise and knowledge in the manufacturing of adhesive tapes. Our Henderson production site is currently equipped with 6 converting machines that can handle rolls up to 1750mm wide and several thousand metres long. This means that our customers can order precise custom slits width, which along with the wide range of technical double and single sided tapes, provides solutions for the manufacturing, engineering and construction sectors.
Our product range is tested and approved to the world’s highest standards. We pride ourselves on our great products, competitive pricing and outstanding customer service. Through a vast nationwide distributor network, we are able to offer top quality products all at competitive prices to the market sectors we serve. These include Industrial, Food Processing, Trade and Retail across industries such as construction, automotive, packaging, seafood, painting, DIY, office supplies and hardware.
Our adhesive tapes product range is tested and approved to the world’s highest standards. We source products from top international suppliers, and every product we receive is (batch) quality tested in our market-leading PGL Lab, the only one of its kind in New Zealand.
Pomona prides itself on our great products, competitive pricing and outstanding customer service. You can trust Pomona to do tapes better.
Based in a small office in rural Kumeu, with the launch of the Selfgard brand. Created to provide protection at home, work and leisure, the first container of Selfgard latex gloves arrived in NZ three months later.
Having spent the first 8 years working in adhesive tapes, this was a natural progression for Charlie and PGL. The vision was to create NZ’s largest converter and slitter of adhesive tapes, a goal which he would go on to achieve!
After five years of rapid growth, Selfgard and Pomona Tapes moved to a new warehouse to accommodate the growing inventory and expanding customer base.
Three years on, saw the establishment of a new supply chain base in the South Island to support continued growth, delivered by the fast-growing Pomona Tapes and Selfgard work protection ranges.
Fast forward another five years, and we had outgrown our ‘new’ Kumeu warehouse. Time again for a larger site, which saw us move to our current, 10,000 sqm, site in Henderson.
Thirty-five years after Charlie started his first job in New Zealand at Danco Speciality Adhesive Tapes, Danco was brought into the Pomona Group fold.
After almost twenty years operating as Pomona Group, we rebranded to PGL to platform the business, and its brands, for the next phase of growth.
